Parent Code of Conduct
A positive youth sports experience begins with ensuring that it is entirely about letting children learning the game in a stress-free, fun environment. Too often, according to countless studies across the country, it is the adults that make achieving that more difficult than it needs to be. In an effort to ensure that we create a positive environment for our young athletes, all youth sports parents must agree to the following before registering their child in our programs:
As a Thunderbird Youth Sports Parents,
I will remember that children participate to have fun and learn, and that the game is for the children, not the adults.
I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy at all times.
I will not engage in any form of disrespectful conduct toward officials, coaches, athletes, fans or league representatives at any time.
I will not engage in any form of harassment, taunting, booing, use of profane language or gestures before, during, or at any time after a sporting event.
I will not post any derogatory remarks or commentary about the league, administrators, coaches, parents, or athletes on any social media, and I will not allow my child to do so.
I will respect the officials and their authority during games. I will not verbally, or through gestures, criticize an official's call or decision even though I may disagree with it. I will abide by the guidelines laid out at Treatment of Officials
I will respect and support my child's coach. If I have a concern, I will not discuss it at the game field or in front of players or other parents, but will take the time to discuss it at an agreed upon time and location with a league representative present if necessary (at least 24 hours after the incident being discussed).
I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that could endanger the health and well-being of the athletes.
I will teach my child to treat other athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect in all circumstances.
I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes, ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action including suspension - either temporary or permanent, as determined by Thunderbird Youth Sports.
